Sunshine Award!

What a great way to bring in the first day of summer with a Sunshine Award!   Joan from the fabulous blog Chocolate, Chocolate and More passed her sunshine on to me.  I am more than humbled over here at Deelicious Sweets.  Foodies are truly the nicest people, evah!

If you haven't visited Joan's blog then what are you waiting for?  I'll wait......

Do her Lemon Blueberry Cupcakes entice you?

What about her To. Die. For. Truffle Petit Fours?

This is only a sample of what she has going on over there!  Seriously good stuff, people.

The Sunshine Award is an award given by bloggers to other bloggers.  The recipients of the Sunshine Award are: "Bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogoshere."  The way the award works is this:  Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them.  Answer 10 questions about yourself.  Select 10 of your favorite bloggers, link their blogs to your post and let them know they have been awarded the Sunshine Award!  Don't forget to copy and paste the award on your blog!

Now for the questions:
  1. Favorite Color - I'm always drawn toward the blues.  Especially turquoise and navy.
  2. Favorite Animal -  If we are talking domesticated animal I would have to pick the cat.  We have two and they sometimes read my blog and they would be super pissed if I said my favorite animal is a dog (which it's not).  I love my kitties (hi Gigi and Snowflake!) and this just got a little weird.  My favorite wild animal would have to be the bear.  They're kind of cool.
  3. Favorite Number - 6  My birthday is December 6 and growing up everyone had a favorite number so I just went ahead and picked that one since it had a "value" so to say.
  4. Favorite Drink - This is an odd question.  I would have to say daily basis wise, water.  I know, booooring!  But when you're really thirsty there is nothing better than a tall glass of cold water.  After working in the yard on a hot day - a good wheat beer.  Hanging with my husband and select friends- red wine.  Lake house - anything goes!
  5. Facebook or Twitter - Facebook.  But, I have my Facebook connected to my Twitter.  Or...is it the other way around?  Twitter hooked up to Facebook.  Either way, I'm partial to Facebook.  Although, with the new changes Facebook has made I'm beginning to learn toward Twitter for my fan base.
  6. Good Book or Good Movie - I'm a nerd so I will always pick the book.  I'm especially partial to fantasy (nerd).  That being said, I enjoy a good movie but only at home.  Every time I go to the theater the stinky person sits right beside me.  They haven't showered for days, brushed their teeth and they are usually gassy - from both ends.
  7. My Passion - Oh God, I'm like a fart in a whirlwind.  One day it could be yoga, the next day spinning.  I could give up working out for a few months and repaint my entire house, bake up a storm, cook meal after meal, eat out for dinner every night, make jewelry, make soap, go shopping.  Don't make me pick just one!
  8. Giving or Getting Presents -  I like both.  Who doesn't like getting presents?  Well, I guess it depends on who is giving them to you and what it is they are giving you.  We all have that relative that gives us hangers - there's a story to that.  Giving presents is just as awesome.
  9. Favorite Day of the Year - Hmm, never really thought of this.
  10. Favorite Flowers - Petunias!  They smell just like summer should smell.  My husband calls me Sweet Petunia :)
Okay, enough about me!

Let's pick 10 bloggers who more than deserve this award!

Whew, that was uber hard just picking 10.
Thank you, Joan for passing this little bit of light on to me!  You made my day!
Please go and check out Chocolate, Chocolate and More if you haven't already and check out these fabulous blogs that I have passed the award on to.  Make sure you tell them all I said, Hi!

Versatile Blogger Award!

I would like to give great big super thanks and big hugs to I heard it's Yummy and Chef in Disguise for passing on to me The Versatile Blogger Award!

I Heard it's Yummy is pretty new to the foodie blog world and she's already winning awards left and right!   She is super sweet and makes an outstanding Sassy Potato Corn Chowder.  Hurry on over and check it out!  It's perfect for the chili weather that is arriving.

Chef in Disguise is one of my oldest and sweetest foodie friends!  I'm sure many of you already know her and follow her.  If not, you're missing out!  Her recipe index is as long as my arm and I have really long arms!  Hurry on over and just try to pick one recipe of hers to bookmark!

This award comes with rules.  I have to list 7 things about myself that you may not know.  If you're a regular reader you probably know more than you want to know about me but here goes!

1. I am an introvert.  I know, right!  Who knew.  In social situations I'm more than likely the one being talked to because I'm a better listener than a talker.  It must be written across my face because I always get stuck with the talkers at the party telling me all about their life and their issues.  I should have been a psychologist.

2. Social situations make me nervous.  My chest breaks out in red splotches when I get nervous which is anytime I'm in a social situation.  I may need to go see a psychologist.

3. In order to break my social situation nervousness I try to put myself in situation's that would make me nervous.  For instance, teaching yoga!

4. I have no idea what else to write about myself.

5, If you want to know 7 other things about me, you can read about more here.

6. If you really want to know 7 more things about me, you can read about more here.

7,  I love shoes and purses.

Second rule.  Choose some fabulous bloggers to pass this award on to.  This is the easy part!

1. Cassie over at Bake Your Day

2. Stephanie over at Eat. Drink. Love.

3. Mary over at Barefeet in the Kitchen

4. Ryan over at Ryan Bakes

5. Laura Jeanne over at A Healthy Jalapeno

6. Mary over at One Perfect Bite

7. Caroline over at Sweet Caroline's Cooking

8. Sumee over at Sumee's Culinary Bites

9. Desi over at SteakNPotatoesKindaGirl

10. Becky over at Baking and Cooking, A Tale of Two Loves

11. Krista and Brett over at Meet The Swans

12. Jeff over at Jeff's Plate

13. MJ over at MJ's Kitchen

14. Jessica over at Pencil Kitchen

15. Tracy over at Screaming Sardine

16. Jenni over at Ferris Wheel Of...

I would have loved to put every single blogger that is in my google reader on this list but that would have been a list that reached well into the hundreds.  Everyone of you is fabulous and I appreciate each and every one of you!

Big hugs!!

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies and Catch Up!

I taught my first Yoga class last Monday.  I was nervous as hell!  I'm a yogi, aren't I supposed to be zen and all?  In case I was horrible I made Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies.  If I wasn't able to find my way to their hearts through my teaching then I would find my way to their hearts through their stomachs! Since then, I have taught 5 more classes and I'm feeling more comfortable.  Oh, and the class loved the cookies and my class!  SCORE!

Chocolate Chip Cookies - Vegan

by Deelicious Sweets
Keywords: dessert snack vegan cookie
Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 Tbsp. tapioca flour
  • 12 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350. Lightly grease two large baking sheets.
Combine sugars, oil, almond milk, and tapioca flour in a mixing bowl. Use a strong fork and mix really well, for about 2 minutes, until the mixture resembles smooth caramel (I used my mixer). There is a chemical reaction when sugar and oil collide, so it's important that you don't get lazy about that step. Mix in the vanilla.
Add 1 cup of the flour, the baking soda, and the salt. Mix in the rest of the flour. Fold in the chocolate chips. The dough will be a little stiff so use your hands to really work the chips in (I used my mixer).
For 3-inch cookies, roll the dough into balls about the size of Ping-Pong balls. Flatten them out in your hands to about 2 1/2 inches. As they cook, they will spread just a bit. Place on a baking sheet and bake for about 8 minutes - no more than 9 until they are just a little browned around the edges. Let cool on a baking sheet for about 5 minutes then transfer to wire rack.

My kiddo's went back to school this week!
Luke is in the seventh grade this year!
Natalie is in fifth grade this year and wanted her picture taken in her pj's since she's homeschooled!
Summertime was fun and it's not yet over but sadly my schedule is no longer on summer time.  Therefore, I will be struggling to find a balance between homeschool, blogging and getting my yoga certification!  Please bear with me!

I appreciate each and every follower and commenter!  While I don't always respond to each comment I read each and every one of them and they all make me smile.

I realize I'm supposed to list 7 things about myself that you don't already know but geez if you're a regular reader you know everything about me!  I'm plum out of ideas!  Maybe that's why it's taken me so long to write this post.

Now I am supposed to list 15 bloggers that I feel deserve this award and there are so many to choose from!  It's easier said than done!

Yummyliciousness and More Blog Awards....Updated!

Let's pretend for a moment that you have left-over Dulce-de-Leche and a box of brownie mix sitting in your pantry.  What would you do?  If you ask me, I would forget about the box of brownie mix and just pull out a spoon and eat the Dulce-de-Leche right out of the bowl.  But I wanted to share the yummyliciousness of the Dulce-de-Leche with the family.  I also wanted to bake something up that was yummylicious.  It was at that moment that I came across Annies Eats and inspiration struck me down.  Hence the creation of Dulce-de-Leche Brownies was born!

Blog Award with Update!

T

I am beaming!  This is only my second blog award :)  I am patting myself on the back as I type this.  That's rather hard to do!  I have really put a lot of effort into making my blog and the pictures I take better and my efforts are paying off.  I realize now how lazy I was in the past, snapping pictures with my Blackberry and posting them.  The shame!  What a difference a nice camera makes.  Thanks to my hubby for teaching me how to use it.

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award!

Deelicious Sweets was given an award by her blogger friend Cultural Dish!  Isn't she just the best!  Go give her some love - Cultural Dish!  She is a new blogger friend and she likes Guinness just about as much as I do.  It was a blogger match made in heaven!  Thank you Cultural Dish!!

As a recipient of this award, I am supposed to not only repeatedly thank Cultural Dish for giving it to me, but I am supposed to share 7 things about myself and then pass the award on to 15 other bloggers that I have come to love!

Here goes:
  1. I am part Potawatomi Indian.
  2. I am claustrophobic - I believe in my past life, I must have been buried alive. I can't even watch shows on TV when they crawl through tight spaces.
  3. I am Agnostic.
  4. I had a fear of heights until I decided to overcome them and go mountain climbing while in Colorado over the summer. Maybe I should go spelunking to overcome my claustrophobia.
  5. I hate staying in one place. If I had the choice, I would live all over the world. I believe I am missing out and letting life pass me by. I was a gypsy in my past life, that was buried alive!
  6. I lure stray animals in to my home and take them to the Humane society to see if they are micro-chipped and bring them back home. So far so good.
  7. I can sew, cross stitch, cook, bake, clean and organize. I am very domestic.
It's so hard to just pick 15 bloggers who deserve this award!  There are so many who deserve it!
