Dessert Wontons
After the smoke cleared, we had a nice spicy dinner. Now for dessert! Since I had a bunch of wonton skins from the night before when I had made Crab Rangoons, I needed to do something to use them up. I searched some blogs last night for some inspiration and came up with this yummy bit.
Banana and Chocolate Wontons
Wonton skins - 3 for each person
Banana sliced
Hershey bar broken up
Egg for glue
Frying oil
Powdered sugar, strawberries and remaining chocolate bits for garnish
Fill wonton skins with banana and one piece of Hershey bar broken in half (makes for easier folding). Brush egg along sides and seal it up in a triangle shape.
Here's the part where my oil got too hot and I didn't notice because I was so happily involved in making up my wonton's. I turned around and saw the smoke and that's when the smoke alarm went off. The hubby broke out all of the fans and opened all of the windows. Needless to say, we had dessert outside.
Heat oil to 350 and drop the filled wonton's into the oil for a few seconds, flip and remove with a slotted spoon. Place on a paper towel lined plate.
Place on plate and garnish with powdered sugar, strawberries and left over broken pieces of Hershey.
Inspiration: Appetite for China
Since I burned some of them from my too hot oil, I only had one left to feed the kiddo's. I made do and cut it in half and served it with Heath Bar ice cream, strawberries and chocolate pieces. There were smiles all around!
~ Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for the award!
Oh my, this is my kind of dessert. I bet a banana + dulce de leche version would be really good too.
